After boarding, we set off to explore the beautiful coastline of the Akrotiri peninsula, known for its crystal-clear waters and peaceful bays. Our first stop is Kalathas Beach, a sandy, sheltered bay with shallow, turquoise waters, perfect for a relaxing swim and a gentle start to the day.
We then continue to Tersanas Beach, a quiet and family-friendly cove with calm waters, ideal for unwinding and enjoying the serene surroundings.
Next, we visit Machairida Beach, a small hidden gem with soft sand and vivid blue waters, offering a more secluded and intimate swimming experience.
Finally, we reach Mavrovouni Bay which takes its name from the nearby "black mountain," a reference to the darker rock formations of the area. Like much of the coastline, it would have been known to sailors and locals for generations as a quiet anchorage point, offering shelter from winds and a safe passage along the northern shores of Crete. It's a tranquil spot with deep, crystal-clear waters and a sense of untouched natural beauty, perfect for one last refreshing swim before we begin our relaxing return along the coast.
